Terms of Service
Last updated: 11 August 2026
These are the rules for using Zend. We have tried to write them in plain language, because terms you cannot read are not terms you agreed to. Please read them before you open an account.
Who we are
Zend is operated by Zend Technologies Ltd., a company registered in Nigeria (RC number and registered address to be inserted before publication). In these Terms, "Zend", "we", "us" and "our" mean that company. "You" means the person who opens and uses a Zend account.
These Terms govern your use of the Zend mobile app, this website, and every service we provide through them. By creating an account you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Zend.
Eligibility and your account
To open a Zend account you must:
- be at least 18 years old;
- be resident in a country where Zend operates;
- open the account in your own name, for your own use;
- give us information that is true, current and complete, and keep it up to date.
One person, one account. You may not open an account on behalf of someone else, lend your account to anyone, or let anyone else transact through it. Everything done through your account is treated as done by you.
Keep your password, transaction PIN and device secure. Tell us immediately at support@zend.africa if you think someone else has access to your account.
Identity verification
Before you can transact, we are required to verify who you are. You agree to provide the identity documents and information we ask for, and you agree that we may verify them with third-party providers, government databases and credit or identity bureaux.
We may re-verify you at any time, ask for additional information about a particular transaction or the source of your funds, and limit or suspend your account until we receive it. If we cannot verify you, we may decline to open your account or close it.
What Zend does, and does not do
Zend turns the value you bring in into naira you can spend. That is a deliberate design choice, and it means:
- You cannot buy cryptocurrency through Zend.
- Cryptocurrency you send us is converted to naira on arrival. We do not hold a cryptocurrency balance for you, and there is no way to reverse a conversion once it completes.
- You can send stablecoins (USDT or USDC) from your naira balance to an external wallet address. The naira is converted at the point of transfer, and a transfer sent to the wrong address cannot be reversed.
Zend is not a bank, is not a securities dealer, and does not give investment, tax or legal advice. Nothing in the app or on this website is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any asset.
Your naira wallet
Your Zend wallet holds a naira balance created by your deposits and your crypto conversions. You can use that balance to pay bills, buy airtime and data, and spend with your Zend cards, or send it to any bank account.
We may apply limits to balances, deposits, withdrawals and individual transactions, and we may change those limits. Current limits are shown in the app.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the bank details you give us. We cannot recover funds sent to an account number you entered incorrectly.
Crypto deposits and conversion
When you request a deposit address, we generate one for the specific asset and network you selected. Send only that asset, on that network, to that address. Assets sent on the wrong network, or assets we do not support, are generally unrecoverable, and we accept no responsibility for them.
A deposit is credited once the relevant blockchain has confirmed it to the depth we require for that network. At that point it is converted to naira at the rate we quote for that conversion, which includes our spread. Rates move; the rate applied is the one in effect when the conversion runs, not when you initiated the transfer.
We may refuse to credit, and may report, funds that we reasonably believe are connected to fraud, sanctions, or the proceeds of crime.
Bills, airtime and data
Bill payments, airtime and data are delivered by third-party billers and telecom operators. We pass your instruction on; we do not control their systems.
Check the account number, meter number or phone number before you confirm. Once a payment has been sent to a biller we usually cannot reverse it, and a payment made to the wrong number is your responsibility. If a payment fails at the biller, we return the amount to your wallet.
Zend cards
Zend offers four cards, and none holds a balance of its own. Every authorisation is debited directly from your naira wallet, and a payment will be declined if your wallet cannot cover it.
- Naira cards, physical and virtual, are denominated in naira and charged at par.
- Dollar cards, physical and virtual, are denominated in US dollars. Each authorisation is converted into naira at the live rate plus our spread at the time of the authorisation.
Cards are issued by our card partner and remain their property. Their scheme rules apply alongside these Terms. We may freeze or cancel a card if we suspect fraud or misuse, and card fees are shown in the app before you order.
Fees, rates and spreads
Our fees and the rate applied to any conversion are shown in the app before you confirm a transaction. Rates include a spread: the difference between the market rate and the rate we offer. That is how we make money on exchanges.
We can change fees, rates and spreads at any time. Changes take effect when published in the app and do not affect transactions you have already confirmed. Third parties (billers, networks, merchants) may charge their own fees, which we do not control.
Things you must not do
You must not use Zend to:
- break any law, or launder money, finance terrorism, or evade sanctions or tax;
- trade assets you do not lawfully own;
- impersonate anyone, or transact on behalf of an undisclosed third party;
- run a money-transmission, exchange or bureau-de-change business through a personal account;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, probe them, scrape them, or interfere with other users;
- abuse a bug, pricing error or promotion, including creating multiple accounts to do so.
Suspension, holds and closure
We may limit, suspend or close your account, hold a transaction, or freeze a balance where we reasonably believe it is necessary, for example if we suspect fraud or unlawful activity, if we are required to by law or by a regulator or court, if you breach these Terms, or if we cannot verify your identity.
Where we are legally able to, we will tell you and explain why. Any balance that is lawfully yours will be returned to a verified bank account in your name, less anything you owe us.
You can close your account at any time from the app once your balance is zero and no transaction is pending.
Liability
We provide Zend with reasonable care and skill, but we do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We are not liable for losses caused by things outside our reasonable control, including blockchain network failures, biller or card-scheme outages, internet failures, or acts of government.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss caused by movements in exchange rates or asset prices. Where we are liable, our total liability for any claim is limited to the value of the transaction it relates to.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
Complaints and disputes
If something goes wrong, contact support@zend.africa first, since most issues are resolved there. Tell us your account email, the transaction reference, and what happened.
If we cannot resolve it between us, the dispute will be settled under Nigerian law, and you and we submit to the jurisdiction of the courts of Nigeria.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the service and the law change. If a change materially affects your rights we will give you reasonable notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Zend after a change takes effect means you accept it.
