How can we help?
Answers to what people actually ask, grouped by where they get stuck. Where the honest answer is that something cannot be undone, it says so here rather than after a ticket.
Still stuck?
Email us with your account address and a transaction reference, and a person will answer.
Getting started
Opening an account and getting verified.
What do I need to open an account?
A phone number, an email address, and a valid government ID. You must be at least 18 and opening the account in your own name.
Verification happens once, and it unlocks every feature: wallet, crypto deposits, bills and cards. There is no partially-verified tier to get stuck in.
How long does verification take?
Usually minutes. Checks run against your ID document and a liveness selfie, and most pass automatically.
If something needs a human look, such as a blurred document, a name that does not match, or an unusual pattern, it goes to manual review and can take up to one business day. We will email you either way.
My verification was rejected. What now?
The usual causes are a photo too dark or blurred to read, an expired document, a cropped edge, or a name that differs from the one on your account. Retry with the document flat, in daylight, with all four corners visible.
If it fails twice, email support@zend.africa and we will look at it directly rather than leaving you to guess.
Is there a referral programme?
Yes. Profile → Refer & earn gives you a code and a share link, and pays ₦1,000 for each friend who signs up and completes verification. The screen shows how many people you have referred and what you have earned.
Adding money
Crypto deposits, bank transfers, and how conversion works.
Which cryptocurrencies can I send?
Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, USDC, BNB, Solana, XRP, Tron, Dogecoin, Cardano, Litecoin, Toncoin, Avalanche, Polkadot, Chainlink, Polygon, Bitcoin Cash, Stellar, Shiba Inu, NEAR, Uniswap and Cosmos.
Stablecoins arrive on several networks. USDT lands on Tron, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Solana or Polygon, so you can pick whichever is cheapest to send on. The app shows the live list, the networks available for each asset, and the minimum deposit.
How do I send crypto in?
Open Add money → Receive crypto, choose the asset and the network, and the app generates a deposit address for that exact combination. Send to it from your wallet or exchange.
Once the network confirms the transfer to the depth that chain requires, it converts to naira automatically and lands in your wallet. Nothing else is needed from you.
I sent crypto on the wrong network. Can you recover it?
Almost always no, and we would rather say so immediately than let you hope.
A deposit address belongs to one asset on one chain. Sending USDT on Ethereum to a Tron address puts the funds somewhere neither we nor our custody partner holds a key for, and no support ticket changes that. Check the network selector against your sending wallet every time.
How long does a deposit take to credit?
It depends on the chain, because each needs a different number of confirmations before a transfer is safe to treat as final. Tron, Solana and BNB Smart Chain are typically about a minute; Ethereum around five; Bitcoin around twenty.
The app shows the expected wait when you pick the network, and the deposit appears in your activity as soon as it is seen on-chain, before it finishes confirming.
Why is there a minimum deposit?
Because below a certain size the network fee to move the coin costs more than the coin is worth, and you would be paying for the privilege of losing money. Each asset has its own minimum, shown before you get the address.
What rate is my deposit converted at?
The rate in effect when the conversion runs, which is when the network finishes confirming. Not the rate when you pressed send. It includes our spread, and the app shows you both the amount and the rate on the resulting transaction.
Cards
Naira and dollar cards, physical and virtual.
What is the difference between the cards?
Naira cards are denominated in naira. They are charged at par, so ₦1 spent is ₦1 off your wallet.
Dollar cards are denominated in US dollars, for paying abroad. Each authorisation converts to naira at the live rate plus our spread at the moment it happens.
Each currency comes as a physical card for paying in person and a virtual card for paying online. None holds a balance of its own. All four spend directly from your naira wallet.
Why was my card declined?
Work down this list before contacting us:
- Your wallet balance does not cover the authorisation. There is no card balance to fall back on.
- The card is frozen. Check Cards.
- The channel is switched off. International, online and ATM each toggle separately in Card settings.
- The transaction is over the spending limit you set.
- For a dollar card, the naira equivalent at the current rate is more than you expected.
I have lost my card.
Freeze it immediately from Cards. It takes one tap and declines everything from that moment. If it turns up in a coat pocket, unfreezing is just as quick, so freeze first and think afterwards.
If you believe it was stolen rather than mislaid, email support@zend.africa and we will cancel and reissue it.
Can I set a limit on what a card can spend?
Yes. Card settings → Set spending limit caps the card independently of your wallet balance, which is the simplest way to contain a card you use for online subscriptions.
Bills and airtime
Paying things straight from your naira balance.
What can I pay?
Airtime, data, electricity, cable TV, betting wallets and internet subscriptions, paid from your naira wallet.
I paid the wrong number or meter.
Once an instruction reaches a biller we usually cannot pull it back, because the value has already been delivered to whoever owns that number. Check the number on the confirmation screen. That screen exists for this exact reason.
If it has not yet been delivered, email us straight away with the reference and we will try.
My payment failed but the money left my wallet.
When a biller rejects a payment, the amount is returned to your wallet automatically and you will see the reversal in your activity. If it has been more than an hour, send us the transaction reference.
Withdrawals
Getting naira out to your bank.
How do I withdraw to my bank?
Add a bank account under Profile → Bank accounts, then withdraw to it from your wallet. It can be any bank account, yours or someone else's.
Can I withdraw crypto instead?
Yes, as a stablecoin transfer. Choose USDT or USDC in the app, enter the wallet address you are sending to, and Zend converts from your naira at the point of transfer. Check the address carefully before you confirm: a transfer to the wrong address cannot be reversed.
I sent a withdrawal to the wrong account number.
We cannot recall it. Banks settle to the account number, and once it has landed the money belongs to whoever owns that account. Confirm the account name the app resolves before you approve a withdrawal. That check is there to catch exactly this.
Account and security
Passwords, PINs, and closing your account.
I have forgotten my password or PIN.
Use Forgot password on the login screen to reset your password by email. Your transaction PIN can be changed from Profile → Security & PIN once you are logged in.
If you are locked out of both, email support@zend.africa from the address on the account. We will verify who you are before changing anything, including when you are in a hurry.
Someone is asking me for my PIN or a one-time code.
It is not us, and it is not our partner, and it is not a staff member helping you with an urgent problem. Zend will never ask for your password, PIN or a one-time code by any channel.
Do not share it, then email support@zend.africa. Our full list of things we will never ask for is on the security page.
How do I close my account?
Withdraw your balance to zero, let any pending transaction settle, and close it from the app. We keep identity and transaction records afterwards for the period financial-crime law requires, typically at least five years, which is explained in the privacy policy.
Rates and fees
What we charge and how we make money.
How does Zend make money?
Mostly on the spread, which is the difference between the market rate and the rate we offer on a conversion. That is shown to you as a rate before you confirm anything, rather than deducted afterwards as a fee you did not expect.
Some services also carry an explicit fee, and where they do the app shows it on the confirmation screen.
Why did the rate change between my quote and my deposit?
Because the market moved while the network was confirming. The rate applied is the one in effect when the conversion runs. On a slow chain like Bitcoin that can be twenty minutes after you pressed send.
